Overview

Classical Learning Test is an online college placement exam that evaluates reading, grammar, and mathematics with an added utilization of  classic literature and historical texts in the reading section.

The exam is 2 hours in length divided into three sections:  Verbal Reasoning (Reading comprehension), Grammar & Writing, Quantitative Reasoning (Math).

The composite score ranges from 40 to 120 with it being the sum of all three sections which each scale from 1 to 40 and students are allowed to retake the exam to earn a better score.

Verbal Reasoning - 40 Points

40 Multiple Choice | 40 Minutes | Passages based on Literature, Science, Philosophy/Religion, and History/Documents 

27 Comprehension Questions Based On:

Passage structure, Main Ideas, Supporting Ideas

13 Analysis Questions Based On:

Rhetorical Devices, Author's Purpose, Relationships Between Texts


Grammar & Writing - 40 Points

40 Multiple Choice | 35 Minutes

20 Grammar Questions Based On:

Agreement, Punctuation, Structure

20 Writing Questions Based On:

Clarity, Flow, Word Choice

Quantitative Reasoning - 40 Points

40 Multiple Choice | 35 Minutes | Mathematics | No Calculators Allowed

10 Algebra Questions Based On:

Arithmetic & Operations, Algebraic Expressions, Equations

14 Geometry Questions Based On:

Coordinate Geometry, Properties of Shapes, Trigonometry 

16 Mathematical Reasoning Questions Based On:

Logic, Word Problems
