SAT

Overview

College Board's SAT is a digital college placement exam that measures students' academic skills in several areas like reading and mathematics. 

The exam lasts a total of 2 hours and 14 minutes is divided into two sections of Reading/Writing and Math with a short break in-between, the scores are calculated from 400 to 1600 and students are allowed to retake the exam to earn a better score.

Reading & Writing - 800 Maximum

27 Multiple Choice Questions Each in Both Modules | 32 Minutes Each in Both Modules 

26% Information & Ideas Based On:

Central Ideas & Details, Command of Evidence, Inferences

28% Craft & Structure Based On:

Words in Context, Text Structure & Purpose, Cross-Text Connections

20% Expression of Ideas Based On:

Rhetorical Synthesis, Transitions

26% Standard English Conventions/Grammar Editing

Boundaries, Form, Structure, and Sense


Math - 800 Maximum

22 Questions Each in Both Modules | 35 Minutes Each in Both Modules | 75% Multiple Choice & 25% Student Produced* 

35% Algebra Based On:

Linear equations, functions, inequalities, and systems

35% Advanced Math Based On:

Equivalent Expressions, Nonlinear Equations and Functions

15% Problem Solving & Data Analysis Based On:

Ratios, Rates, Percentages, and Statistics

15% Geometry & Trigonometry Based On:

Area, Volume, Triangles, Circles


** In the Calculator Section, Four-Function, Scientific, and Graphing Calculators are Permitted

For both sections, they each have two modules:

Module I - Students are given a broad mix of questions varying in difficulty

Module II - Students are given a targeted mix of questions varying in difficulties based on their performance in Module I
